Ontdek de Barcelona e-guide: een complete gastronomische gids voor tijdens jouw citytrip
Feel like expanding your horizons? Want to challenge your palate after all the tapas? Hummus, flatbread, baba ganoush and falafel: we’re crazy about Israeli food. What if we told you that you didn’t have to travel all the way to Tel Aviv to experience it, but that you could taste Tel Aviv right here in Barcelona? The restaurant LABALABUSTA is definitely worth a trip. Let us tell you why.
Restaurant LABALABUSTA
Craving a table full of Mediterranean food in a place where you feel like you’re peeking into someone’s kitchen and getting inspired as a result? Look no further, LABALABUSTA (Yiddish for a well-run and hospitable household) is the perfect starting point to describe the restaurant in Barcelona. LABALABUSTA is positively bustling. Sounds and aromas escape from the kitchen. The ambiance amplifies the voices of the customers. Dishes in containers clatter on the table. It’s an excellent approach to the Middle Eastern cuisine right in the heart of Barcelona.
The first thing you notice is how light this place actually is. It’s a large corner restaurant with a beautiful big window where you can also sit. A recommended spot as you experience both indoor and outdoor life. That’s the most fun part of a city, isn’t it? Just looking around.
What to order? Although the menu is regularly updated and therefore differs from when I dined there, it always retains some familiar dishes. The great thing about LABALABUSTA is that they focus on Eastern Mediterranean recipes but treat them differently. For example, you might see a dish on the menu that is combined with prawns from Palamós. We found the hummus with lamb absolutely worth it. Additionally, the oven-baked package of feta and figs, soaked in honey, was divine. Yam! Another favorite that always hits the spot is the cauliflower shawarma with tahini. This one stays on the menu longer because it’s a favorite of many. One last tip: be sure to try the homemade pita bread and other sweets from the menu, and thank us later!
