1. Bohl Wholesome Kitchen
This beautiful café is located in the trendy neighbourhood of El Born. Located between the Gothic Quarter and the Ciutadella Park, El Born is considered to be one of the trendiest and most popular neighbourhoods in Barcelona. It is home to some of the oldest buildings in the city. It is not only one of the most historic parts of Barcelona, but also one of the liveliest.
At Bohl Wholesome Kitchen you can start your day with a delicious breakfast or fuel up for lunch. It’s a relatively quiet place, with a minimalist interior. This coffee shop has a plant-based focus. So expect an excellent avocado toast or one of the tasty yoghurt bowls. Oh, and their iced coffee is an absolute must! After a morning or day of walking, this is the perfect base to recharge. A shot of espresso and a couple of vegan treats to fill you up.
2. Baldomero
There is no better way for those who are discovering a big city to have an oasis where they can enjoy the peace, recover from all the impressions and sit down at a table where they will feel as comfortable as at home. That’s Baldomero. It’s a restaurant with a minimalist design and a rural atmosphere, where wooden and earthenware vases blend in perfectly with the ceilings, the coloured cushions and the pink Pantone that stains the walls. A place to escape from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Right at the entrance, you’ll see what they’ve cooked that day on the central table (the same as you can find in any farmhouse). From there it is up to you what kind of food and in what quantity. You will be able to make your plate as dainty as you like. Variety and quality are guaranteed: all kinds of salads, legumes, perfectly cooked vegetables and, of course, meat and fish main courses using the best local products. A new and welcoming concept for all the coffee shops in Barcelona.
3. La Papa Barcelona
Located in the Eixample district, La Papa is a lunch/brunch spot with a minimalist look and a focus on organic food. The atmosphere, the decor, is reminiscent of Mediterranean islands. A visit to La Papa is a plan in itself.
The menu is unique and the dishes are very flavourful. Examples and favourites from the menu include the powersalad, savoury pancakes, avocado pizza and mushroom truffle toast. In addition, one of the charming baristas will guide you through the different flavours of roasted coffee from around the world.
The idea of La Papa Barcelona goes beyond offering a colourful and healthy cuisine, as the owners want to use the space as a concept store: all the furniture is for sale, as well as a selection of organic clothing and some of their culinary products, such as granola or their vegan dulce de leche.
This is a delightful place to come and meet nice people, or just to hang out and enjoy the food.
4. Nomad Coffee
This hidden gem is located in the Poblenou district. Situated in the centre of Barcelona, it attracts everyone from hipsters to city lovers with its trendy markets, concept stores and innovative festivals. The area is dotted with colourful modernist architecture and even has its own ‘rambla’ (promenade).
Tucked away in Poblenou is one of the now three coffee shops, Nomad Coffee. This is a beautifully designed place where you can not only buy coffee, but also taste all kinds of seasonal varieties.
Nomad currently has 3 coffee shops in Barcelona: the Nomad Coffee Lab & Shop, the Nomad Roasters House and the newest, Nomad Everyday.
5. Three Marks Coffee
This beautiful café, Three Marks Coffee, was founded by three friends, two Marcos and one Mark (hence the name ‘Three Marks Coffee’), in the Fort Pienc district of the Eixample. The first thing you’ll notice about this café is the amount of light that greets you through the large windows; a real feast for the eyes. You can choose to sit downstairs at the bar or take your coffee upstairs where there is plenty of space to sit and work.
What makes this place special is that they do their own coffee roasting and they know exactly where to source their quality beans. Ask one of the Marks (the owners are two Marcos and one Marc) behind the bar and they’ll be happy to guide you through the world of speciality coffee and the beans that go into it. On the menu you’ll find espressos, drip coffees and cold coffee options such as iced lattes, cold brew and more.
This place is a must for coffee lovers!

It is also a very pleasant place for lovers of interior design, because you will want to take everything home with you. If the tables look a little too beautiful to sit down with a hot cup of coffee on, that’s because they are. TOAS Living sells coffee as well as furniture, lighting, ceramics, soap and chocolate bars. Enjoy the best sustainable products with your café au lait.
8. Little Fern Cafe
Brunch by day, dumplings and beer by night. The new Little Fern Cafe, one of the most pleasant surprises in Poblenou, offers this unbeatable combination. Little Fern has become the latest obsession for many, bright, welcoming, with good music and a Scandinavian touch.
Their fried chicken sandwich (2018 foodie trend alert) is in a class of its own. It’s juicy, flavoursome, with a hint of spicy Sriracha. It’s one of those addictive snacks. In the evening, the menu changes to homemade dumplings and beer. After all, can you think of anything better than a dumpling and a beer? That’s what the New Zealander Jay Crichton and the Hungarian Judit Bara were thinking when they decided to turn an old corner bar in the Poblenou district into one of the city’s temples of comfort food. Little Fern has everything it takes to become your next favourite.
9. Satans Coffee Place
Don’t let the name scare you! It would be a shame not to include this beautiful hot spot in your list and miss out on the quality coffee that it offers. This coffee spot is located in the Gothic Quarter and is said to have the best coffee to go in the city. They have a wide variety of coffees from all over the world to choose from.
