Eating sushi in Spain? Ha\u2026 No matter where we go, we Dutch will always love to eat sushi, and I’m speaking mainly for myself. Now, you might be asking yourself, why would you want to eat sushi when you are in Spain?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As much as I enjoy tapas with a glass of vino blanco at lunchtime, discovering good sushi restaurants is a challenge. Once you find them, you might just love skipping tapas for lunch. The first to go was Moss restaurant, for instance. restaurant MOSS sushi is located in Palam\u00f3s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Palam\u00f3s, the third port city of the Costa Brava.<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Palam\u00f3s is all about the sea: its beaches, its landscape, its tourism and its gastronomy. The old town is built on a large rocky headland. The emerald colour of the sea reflects the coastline and the character of the people of the Costa Brava. Diving, kayaking, boat hire, sailing, snorkelling and windsurfing – everything is possible here!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This town is perfect for summer days and invites you to explore all the restaurants, walks and beaches. A stroll through the old town of Palam\u00f3s will give you a typical summer evening feel with the smell of tapas wafting through the streets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
With over 70 restaurants in Palam\u00f3s, you’ll find a wide and varied cuisine where you can try dishes with all kinds of flavours. It is this diversity that makes this Spanish town so special. There’s something for everyone, including families.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Palam\u00f3s is particularly known for its important port and the delicacy “Gamba de Palam\u00f3s”, a distant relative of the prawn. This is definitely worth a visit for all seafood lovers! But if the fish dishes are so good all over the Costa Brava, does that translate into sushi? I’m going to find out, starting with the Moss sushi restaurant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you’ve parked your car, probably with a view of the sea, walk up the steps that lead to the centre of Palam\u00f3s. You will soon notice the charming streets that will make you want to go on walking. In the distance you can see the Moss sushi restaurant. This is a small, charming sushi restaurant with a Palam\u00f3s flavour that is evident in both the food and the service. The waiter was very friendly and helpful.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It’s a trendy place by Spanish standards. As a graphic designer by trade, I can’t help but be subconsciously aware of the overall branding of a place, and they’ve done a great job here. With a strong focus on the colour blue, which represents the sky and the sea, it is also a favourite colour for many people. It’s welcoming and gives a slightly more upmarket feel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The restaurant looks nice inside and the staff are very friendly. It’s a place where you can meet a friend to have a nice lunch and talk about everyday life. It’s a place where you want to spend your Sunday afternoon lunch, because when you arrive you want to order the whole menu in one go. With an extensive selection of makis, nigiris and rolls, all carefully prepared and presented, Moss is a fantastic option for an afternoon or evening with friends or whenever the sushi craving strikes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
If you have something special to celebrate, like a birthday, I would recommend going somewhere else in the area. It gives me more of a city lunch-urban vibe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The menu is wonderfully extensive and offers something for everyone. My personal favourite was the mixed tuna and salmon tartar as a starter. It was served with the requisite wasabi and ginger. Paired with the dry white Peralada wine, it was a great start to my Sunday. And then it was time to attack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Their sushi rolls were incredible, as was the service. The fun part was that they come to your table to flamb\u00e9 the sushi with a “heater”. Need we say more? <\/em>It’s a small place, so make sure you book. We will definitely be back!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
